Jim's stories have skipped across novels, films, TV, web, and songs.
His debut novel, Up Here, published in 2020, started life as a screenplay. It was shortlisted in the top-5 of the Australian Writers' Guild 'Romantic Comedy Script' competition, alongside international bestseller, The Rosie Project. Jim has published three other books in the contemporary romance genre.
A pioneer in online video, in 2005 he created ‘forget the rules’; the first comedy/drama series in the world to broadcast all episodes on TV, web, and mobiles. Jim has collected nominations and awards in Cannes (x2), from VicScreen, and the Australian Writers’ Guild (x2).
He has been a regular speaker or mentor on interactive storytelling for film schools, universities, and government screen agencies across Australia, as well as at MIPCOM and MIPTV in Cannes.

For over 20 years Jim has sprinkled his storytelling craft across film, TV, web, radio, magazines, songs and novels.
An international pioneer in online video, in 2005 he created ‘forget the rules’; the first comedy/drama series in the world to broadcast all episodes on TV, web and mobiles.
In 2010 Jim was ranked #30 in Encore Magazine's ‘Australian Film & TV Power-50’. He has also been recognised with nominations and awards in Cannes, Film Victoria and the Australian Writers Guild. Jim has attracted development and/or production funding for original projects from: Screen Australia, Film Victoria, Screen Tasmania and the Australian Children’s Television Foundation.
His brand-caressed feelosophy has added spice to videos and TVCs for: Uniting Foster Care, Headspace, CGU Insurance, Ansell, Deakin University, Berri Juice, Australian Stroke Foundation, Elite Caravans, AGL Power.
Jim has been a regular speaker or mentor on interactive storytelling for film schools, universities, and government screen agencies across Australia; and was an official speaker in Cannes at MIPCOM 2007, MIPTV 2008 & 2009. He enjoyed stints as a storyliner on Neighbours, copywriter on Sale of The Century, and is a published songwriter (lyricist). Jim studied writing and production at AFTRS.
