AI Policy

I do not use AI for any writing or editing.

I detest the brazen theft of copyright material by all AI companies. If you think you can trust the people behind these companies, read The Empire Of AI, by Karen Hao. It reads like a crime thriller, except it is a true story and we are all victims, especially practitioners in creative endeavours. The 'productivity benefits' sales pitch by AI companies is one of the biggest hoaxes I've witnessed.

Limited research has been done via Gemini in Google. However, this is usually as part of a Google search.

I have used AI auto narration by Google for two of my audiobooks. Google paid the actors for their voices, so there isn't any rights theft in the process.

I sometimes use AI in creating promotional material via Canva. In all cases, I could not have afforded a graphic designer or other means to create the content needed. It's usually a choice of Canva or nothing. I pay Canva a subscription and I like that their founders use their wealth for good causes.

I acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live, love, and create. I pay my respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
